<image:caption>When I was a very small boy, Dad, recognising my enjoyment of riding on trains, would often take me from West Bromwich to Birmingham Snow Hill and back on a Sunday Morning while Mum was busy cooking lunch at home. We travelled on one of these ex GWR diesel railcars on the Dudley to Snow Hill service,W8W being a regular. The railcar here has just arrived having passed under the Lyng Lane bridge. I don't know who took this photograph I'm afraid but would be glad if anyone were able to enlighten me.</image:caption>

<image:caption>5786 is one of over eight hundred 57xx pannier tank locomotives of the Great Western Railway. Built at Swindon, 5786 entered service in January 1930. In 1958 it was overhauled at Swindon and transferred from British Railways to London Transport where it was painted Maroon and numbered L92. Owned by the Worcester Locomotive Society, the locomotive is based on the South Devon Railway, currently (2020) in its L92 guise. Here however, it is seen it is seen retsored to its original livery, about to depart from Buckfastleigh with a srvice for Totnes on the 3rd July 2007.</image:caption>

<image:caption>GWR small prairie tank 4555 has left Goodrington on the 21st June 2005 and begun the climb to Churston with a Paignton to Kingswear service. 4555 was withdrawn form Plymouth Laira in November 1963, but was bought from BR by Patrick Whitehouse and Patrick Garland for £750, which included a light overhaul at Swindon. The locomotive then became a familiar sight on Western Region lines in the Birmingham area wearing its Great Western livery, before moving on to the Dart Valley Railway in 1965, where it hauled the official opening train. Transfer to the then Torbay Steam Railway came in 1973.</image:caption>
